What Is GB300 NVL72?_

GB300 NVL72 is NVIDIA's rack-scale platform that integrates 72 Blackwell Ultra (B300) GPUs and 36 Grace CPUs into a single liquid-cooled rack connected by NVLink. It is the successor to GB200 NVL72, drawing roughly 120 kW per rack and requiring 100% direct liquid cooling, with the same overall mechanical and electrical envelope as the GB200 generation.

Technical Details

The GB300 NVL72 keeps the NVL72 architecture: GPUs and CPUs are joined into a unified rack-scale system over fifth-generation NVLink, with NVSwitch silicon providing all-to-all GPU connectivity inside the rack rather than external NVLink cabling. External connectivity to leaf and spine switches still uses dense 400G/800G InfiniBand or Ethernet, with 200+ fiber connections per rack. The rack weighs well over a metric ton and requires verified floor loading. Cooling is mandatory direct liquid cooling through cold plates, manifolds, quick-disconnect fittings, and a coolant distribution unit that transfers heat to the facility water loop. Power delivery uses high-amperage three-phase distribution sized for the roughly 120 kW per-rack load. Compared with GB200 NVL72, the GB300 generation increases HBM3e memory and throughput while preserving the deployment-facing infrastructure requirements.
