What Is Rack Bus Bar Alignment?_

In GPU rack platforms, bus bars carry high-current DC power from rack PDUs or power shelves to the compute nodes. Alignment ensures that the fixed bus bar contacts line up with the mating surfaces on each tray during insertion. Poor alignment increases contact resistance or prevents trays from seating fully against the rack frame.

Technical Details

Bus bars are rigid conductors mounted to the rack structure, separate from the copper NVLink spine used for GPU-to-GPU communication. Alignment is verified by checking that tray guide pins engage before power contacts touch and that no binding occurs with nearby liquid cooling manifolds. Connections are typically bolted rather than push-pull, so crews confirm seating before applying torque per the OEM specification.

How Leviathan Systems Works with Rack Bus Bar Alignment

Leviathan field crews check rack bus bar alignment during tray installation on H100 and later platforms as part of rack assembly before any power-up or commissioning steps.
