What Is Rack Power Whip Rating?_

It defines the safe operating envelope for the whip based on conductor size, insulation rating, and termination hardware. The rating must align with the upstream overcurrent device and the rack's expected draw to prevent overheating or nuisance trips. Whips are selected during site planning so that the installed assembly matches the rack configuration without field modification.

Technical Details

Rating is stated on the whip label and verified against the OEM spec before connection. The assembly uses flexible stranded conductors sized for the required ampacity and is terminated with connectors rated for the same voltage class. No torque is applied to push-pull style connectors at the rack end. Derating factors for ambient temperature and bundling are applied per the relevant standard when multiple whips share a pathway.

How Leviathan Systems Works with Rack Power Whip Rating

Field crews confirm the whip rating label matches the rack nameplate before landing the connection during rack assembly and commissioning.
