What Is Rack Power Provisioning?_
It encompasses the selection, installation, and connection of distribution hardware that matches rack-level load requirements. Power is typically stepped down or conditioned at the rack before reaching individual servers, switches, and cooling components. Proper provisioning prevents overloads on upstream circuits and maintains phase balance across three-phase feeds.
Technical Details
Distribution commonly uses rack-mounted PDUs or overhead busway taps with circuit breakers sized to the connected load. Redundant A- and B-side feeds are standard for critical GPU racks to allow maintenance without downtime. Cable sizing and connector types follow the OEM power-supply ratings rather than arbitrary limits. Monitoring occurs via embedded PDU meters that report per-outlet or per-phase draw to the DCIM system.
How Leviathan Systems Works with Rack Power Provisioning
Field crews install and label PDUs, land whip cables to busway or floor PDU outlets, and verify phase rotation and grounding during rack assembly and commissioning of H100 or GB200 NVL72 systems.
