What Is Water Detection Rope?_
The cable uses two conductive wires separated by a hygroscopic or non-conductive material that alters resistance or capacitance when moisture bridges the gap. This change is monitored by an attached control unit that can report the approximate location of the detected liquid. It is deployed in facilities to provide distributed leak sensing rather than point detection.
Technical Details
The rope is placed in continuous runs under equipment or along piping routes and connects to a dedicated monitoring panel. Detection relies on the cable remaining dry until an event occurs, after which the affected segment must be replaced or dried. It operates independently of the cooling loop itself and does not measure flow, pressure, or temperature.
