What Is Quantum-X800?_
Quantum-X800 is NVIDIA's InfiniBand switch platform delivering 800 Gb/s per port (XDR InfiniBand), built for the back-end networks of large GPU clusters. Together with ConnectX-8 adapters, it forms an end-to-end 800G InfiniBand fabric, typically arranged in a fat-tree or rail-optimized topology to provide full bisection bandwidth across thousands of GPUs.
Technical Details
Quantum-X800 switches aggregate 800 Gb/s XDR InfiniBand ports and include in-network computing features such as SHARP, which performs collective reductions inside the switch to cut the data each GPU must send. At cluster scale, these switches form the leaf and spine layers of a fat-tree, with rail-optimized wiring connecting each GPU's NIC to a consistent rail across the fabric. The 800G ports use OSFP cages and high-count fiber, so a single spine switch can terminate hundreds of fiber connections, all requiring correct polarity, clean end-faces, and certified insertion loss. The fabric's measured bandwidth depends as much on cable-plant quality and wiring accuracy as on the switch silicon, which is why every link is tested before the cluster is accepted.
How Leviathan Systems Works with Quantum-X800
Leviathan Systems installs and cables Quantum-X800 InfiniBand fabrics to the exact wiring map, certifying every fiber link so the switched fabric reaches its designed bisection bandwidth.
