What Is Pre-Terminated Trunk?_

Pre-terminated trunks eliminate the need for field termination and splicing by providing a complete, tested cable run from the factory. They are commonly used in structured cabling to speed deployment and ensure consistent performance. These assemblies are available in various fiber counts and connector types, such as MPO, to support high-density environments.

Technical Details

Pre-terminated trunks are commonly available in various fiber counts (e.g., 12, 24, or 48) in a single jacket, terminated with MPO connectors per industry standards. The factory termination ensures low insertion loss and high return loss, verified by test reports included with each assembly. They are often deployed in point-to-point runs between patch panels or directly to transceivers, with lengths specified to the exact rack layout. The connectors are push-pull and require no torque screw for installation.

How Leviathan Systems Works with Pre-Terminated Trunk

In our field work, pre-terminated trunks are used to connect GPU nodes to the top-of-rack fiber panels for scale-out networking, reducing on-site termination time. We handle these assemblies carefully to avoid fiber damage during routing through cable trays and ladder racks.
