What Is MPO-24 Connector?_
It enables high-density parallel optical links by aligning all fibers simultaneously during mating. The connector body incorporates push-pull latching and a keyed housing to maintain polarity and prevent incorrect insertion. MPO-24 assemblies are commonly terminated on ribbon or loose-tube fiber cables for data-center scale-out networks.
Technical Details
The ferrule contains two parallel rows of twelve fibers each, with alignment provided by guide pins on one connector half and corresponding holes on the other. Mating requires only axial push-pull force; the design contains no threaded or torque elements. End-face geometry and cleanliness directly affect insertion loss and return loss across all twenty-four channels. The connector is independent of the copper NVLink fabric that interconnects GPUs inside a rack.
How Leviathan Systems Works with MPO-24 Connector
Field crews install MPO-24 jumpers or trunks when building the separate fiber scale-out network that links GPU nodes to InfiniBand or Ethernet switches outside the rack.
