What Is Level 5 Commissioning?_
Level 5 Commissioning goes beyond component-level checks to test the rack as a complete system under load. It validates that all subsystems—power distribution, liquid cooling loops, GPU networking, and control software—interact correctly and meet performance targets. This phase typically includes stress testing, thermal validation, and network throughput verification to ensure the rack is ready for production deployment.
Technical Details
The process involves running synthetic workloads that simulate real GPU compute and memory access patterns. Intra-rack NVLink connectivity (using copper backplanes) is validated alongside scale-out fabric performance (typically using MPO/fiber connections). Liquid cooling loops are tested at full thermal load to verify flow rates and temperature differentials stay within the OEM spec. Power redundancy is tested by failing over PSUs or PDUs while monitoring GPU power draw and system stability. All test results are logged against baseline metrics from the factory acceptance test to identify any drift or installation issues.
How Leviathan Systems Works with Level 5 Commissioning
For Leviathan Systems field crews, Level 5 Commissioning is the final validation step after rack assembly, cabling, and liquid cooling connection. It is where we confirm that the entire NVL72 unit—from the copper NVLink backplane to the facility water hookups—operates as a single, reliable system before customer acceptance.
