What Is Feeder Cable Sizing?_

The process starts from the connected load of GPU racks and works backward through diversity factors, continuous-current rules, and installation conditions. Cables are selected so that their ampacity after all applicable derating remains above the design current while voltage drop stays within equipment tolerances. Final choice also accounts for short-circuit withstand and the physical routing method through trays, conduits, or underfloor spaces.

Technical Details

Ampacity tables in the relevant electrical code or manufacturer data are used as the base, then adjusted for ambient temperature, grouping, and insulation type. Voltage drop is evaluated at full load using conductor resistivity and length; the resulting conductor size is increased if needed to meet equipment input requirements. Installation must follow the OEM rack power specification for termination hardware and pulling tension limits. No torque values are applied to push-pull power connectors.

How Leviathan Systems Works with Feeder Cable Sizing

Field crews verify that feeder cables landed on rack PDUs during commissioning match the sizing shown on the single-line drawings for NVL72-class deployments before energization.
