What Is Fabric Link Sweep?_

The sweep exercises ports and cables after physical installation to confirm link-up status and detect obvious faults before production traffic. It runs as part of the overall test sequence once structured cabling and rack power-up are complete. Results are recorded to document that the fabric layer is ready for higher-level validation.

Technical Details

The procedure iterates through switches and endpoints to verify link training completes and basic error counters remain at zero during the test window. It applies only to the fiber-based InfiniBand or Ethernet scale-out network; intra-rack NVLink connections use separate copper paths and are not included. Technicians inspect push-pull QSFP or OSFP connectors visually; no torque is applied. Any flagged links are re-seated or replaced before the sweep is repeated.

How Leviathan Systems Works with Fabric Link Sweep

Leviathan crews run the fabric link sweep after MPO trunk installation and rack alignment as the last pre-handover check on H100–GB200 deployments.
