What Is Encircled Flux Compliance?_
The method restricts the modal power distribution at the fiber input so that measurements do not vary with different light sources or connectors. It is applied during link certification to confirm that installed multimode trunks meet the loss budgets required for the chosen Ethernet or InfiniBand speeds. Compliance is verified with a source whose output falls inside an accepted radial power template before each test sequence.
Technical Details
Test instruments are checked against the template at the start of every shift or when the launch cord is changed. The measurement uses a restricted-mode launch that excludes both the lowest- and highest-order modes. Results are recorded with the same cord and mandrel configuration used for the actual link; any deviation outside the template invalidates the data set. The same practice applies to both permanent-link and channel measurements on MPO-terminated trunks.
How Leviathan Systems Works with Encircled Flux Compliance
During commissioning of scale-out InfiniBand or Ethernet fabrics, crews verify encircled-flux compliance on every MPO trunk before running end-to-end loss checks between GPU racks and spine switches.
