What Is DCIM?_

DCIM integrates sensors, power distribution units (PDUs), and environmental controls to provide a unified view of facility health and capacity. It enables operators to track energy usage, thermal conditions, and equipment locations, often with dashboards and alerts. This system supports planning for upgrades or expansions by modeling power and cooling loads.

Technical Details

DCIM platforms typically collect data via SNMP, Modbus, or IPMI from PDUs, chillers, and rack sensors, aggregating it into a central database. They can calculate power usage effectiveness (PUE) and generate heat maps for airflow optimization. Integration with building management systems (BMS) is common, but DCIM focuses more on IT equipment and rack-level granularity. Alerts can trigger automated responses, such as adjusting fan speeds or shedding non-critical loads.

How Leviathan Systems Works with DCIM

During Leviathan Systems rack assembly and liquid cooling commissioning, DCIM is used to verify that power and cooling thresholds match the GPU rack's load profile before handoff. Our field crew references DCIM dashboards to confirm that structured cabling and coolant distribution unit (CDU) parameters are within spec.
