What Is Blind-Mate Power Connector?_
Blind-mate power connectors are used in dense GPU rack platforms so that compute trays or power shelves engage DC power upon mechanical insertion. Alignment features such as guide pins or rails correct for positional tolerance along the insertion axis. The design keeps operators from accessing individual contacts once the tray is seated in the rack frame.
Technical Details
Contacts are rated for the current levels specified by the OEM for the given GPU tray or node. Mating force and wipe are provided by the insertion motion rather than by separate tools or torque. The connectors remain part of the fixed rack infrastructure and the removable module; no field torquing of power pins occurs after initial rack integration.
How Leviathan Systems Works with Blind-Mate Power Connector
During rack assembly for H100 NVL72 systems, field crews slide GPU trays into the frame until the blind-mate power connectors seat against the rack power distribution bus. Verification is performed by confirming tray latch engagement and power-good indicators rather than by visual inspection of the contacts.
