What Is Coolant Distribution Unit Sidecar?_

It attaches beside the main CDU enclosure and shares the secondary facility loop to increase total flow or heat rejection. The sidecar typically houses additional pumps, filtration, or heat-exchange elements that operate under the same control logic as the primary unit. All interfaces remain within the closed liquid-cooling circuit and do not interact with the copper NVLink domain inside the rack.

Technical Details

Mounting places the sidecar adjacent to the rack so that quick-disconnect hoses reach the rack manifold without crossing copper GPU interconnects. Flow balancing between primary CDU and sidecar follows OEM pressure and temperature set-points rather than field-adjusted values. Sensors for leak detection, flow rate, and temperature are integrated at the sidecar outlets per the relevant equipment specification. Push-pull connectors on the coolant lines require no torque application.

How Leviathan Systems Works with Coolant Distribution Unit Sidecar

Field crews position and mechanically secure the sidecar to the CDU frame during rack integration for liquid-cooled deployments before making the final facility-water connections.
