What Is Row-Based CDU?_
It draws from the facility primary chilled-water circuit and circulates conditioned coolant through row-level manifolds to the racks it serves. The unit centralizes pumping, filtration, and heat exchange for the row instead of placing those functions inside each rack or at the facility scale. This layout is used where rack density requires more cooling capacity than individual rack CDUs can provide but does not justify a full facility loop.
Technical Details
Typical components include redundant pumps, plate heat exchangers, and strainers that isolate the secondary coolant from the primary loop. Connections to rack manifolds are made with flexible hoses or rigid piping; flow and temperature are balanced at the CDU rather than at each server tray. Sensors for pressure, flow, and temperature are read at the CDU to confirm loop integrity before racks are powered.
How Leviathan Systems Works with Row-Based CDU
During large-scale liquid-cooled row builds, field crews position the row-based CDU at the end of the row, make the primary and secondary connections, and verify flow during liquid-cooling commissioning before GPU bring-up.
