What Is One-Jumper Reference Method?_
The method includes the loss of two connector interfaces in the reference reading. When the test cord is later inserted into the link under test, the measured value represents the loss of the installed cabling minus that baseline. It is one of several accepted reference configurations used for single-mode and multimode fiber certification.
Technical Details
A stable reference is obtained by mating the source and meter through the single jumper and storing the received power level. Any subsequent measurement of the link subtracts this stored value to report link loss. Connector end-face condition and repeated mating cycles influence reference drift. The technique is applied with both simplex jumpers and MPO fan-out cords depending on the connector type under test.
How Leviathan Systems Works with One-Jumper Reference Method
Field crews use the one-jumper reference when certifying MPO trunks that form the scale-out InfiniBand or Ethernet fabric between racks. The method is performed before GPU node commissioning to confirm acceptable loss on the fiber plant.
