What Is Mechanical Electrical Plumbing?_

MEP encompasses the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure that supports IT equipment. Mechanical systems handle cooling and airflow, electrical systems deliver power, and plumbing manages water for liquid cooling or fire suppression. In a GPU data center, MEP must accommodate high-density loads and specialized cooling loops.

Technical Details

Electrical systems include transformers, switchgear, and PDUs to distribute power at appropriate voltages. Mechanical systems involve CRACs, CRAHs, or chillers for air cooling, plus pumps and heat exchangers for liquid cooling loops. Plumbing for liquid cooling requires closed-loop piping with dielectric fluid or water, often with leak detection and filtration. All MEP components must be coordinated with rack layout to ensure adequate clearance for cabling and service access.

How Leviathan Systems Works with Mechanical Electrical Plumbing

During rack assembly and commissioning, we verify that MEP connections—power whips, coolant supply/return lines, and drain pipes—are correctly installed and labeled per site plans. We also coordinate with facility engineers to ensure MEP capacity matches the GPU cluster's draw before powering on.
