What Is Deionized Water Coolant?_
Removal of ions lowers electrical conductivity so the fluid can contact electronic components without creating leakage paths. The same fluid also reduces corrosion risk inside cold plates, manifolds, and quick-disconnect fittings. Systems using this coolant are closed loops that exchange heat to a secondary facility-water circuit through a heat exchanger.
Technical Details
Conductivity is kept low by on-line deionization cartridges or periodic batch treatment. pH and resistivity are checked against the OEM specification before and during commissioning. Air is bled from the loop at the highest points to prevent flow restriction and localized boiling. Push-pull quick disconnects are used; no torque is applied to the connectors themselves.
