What Is Fiber Raceway?_

Fiber raceways provide a dedicated channel for fiber cables, keeping them separate from power cables to avoid interference and physical damage. They are typically mounted above or alongside racks and come in various widths and configurations to accommodate high-density cabling. Proper use of raceways simplifies cable management, improves airflow, and facilitates future maintenance or upgrades.

Technical Details

Fiber raceways are often constructed from lightweight materials such as aluminum or PVC to reduce weight; aluminum raceways may be grounded per local codes to prevent grounding issues. They may include covers, dividers, and bend-radius guides to protect fibers from sharp bends and crushing. In high-density GPU clusters, raceways are sized to handle hundreds of fibers per row, with spare capacity for future expansion. Installation follows TIA/EIA standards for cable management, though exact fill ratios and bend radii should conform to the cable OEM specifications.

How Leviathan Systems Works with Fiber Raceway

During Leviathan Systems rack builds, fiber raceways are installed above the GPU server rows to route the scale-out InfiniBand or Ethernet fiber trunks from the top-of-rack switches to the compute nodes. Our field crew often pre-runs fiber bundles through raceways before terminating connectors, ensuring a clean, serviceable layout.
